Once in a while, I drive by a property that sticks out so much, that I feel like something just has to be done about it. That is exactly what happened when I drove by a home in Hanceville, AL that was completely overgrown. It was the only unkept yard on the street, and it really looked rough. The sign on the door indicated that the property was vacant and abandoned. We decided to take matters into our own hands to help out the community.
The grass was easily over 3 feet high, and really thick. There was also a tree on the left that had grown out almost into the neighbor’s driveway. We worked on this one for about 4 hours, mowing and raking and mowing and raking to get the front and sides cleaned up. I must have cut the front yard 6 or 8 times before it was all over with.
The extra effort was completely worth it! The yard looked so much better when we left, and we were so happy that we could carve out the time and get this done. Sometimes, it’s not about the money, sometimes it is just about trying to do something positive for neighborhood.
